Department Of Caffeine

Out to another new place that I’ve been wanting to check out – 'Department of Caffeine'!

There are just so many cafes around the Duxton area! Look closely for D.O.C or you might just miss it. Department of Caffeine has been attracting many cafe- hoppers and coffee lovers- it was rather packed when I paid my first visit to the cafe. Serving a selection of coffee and other beverages, pastries and a small range of main dishes that include several brunch items, Department of Caffeine does seem to know the usual combination of ingredients to please it's customers.

The allocation of space is definitely challenging as the space they have is long and narrow. The wooden walls and furniture provided a warm feeling to its ambience.

The Menu- D.O.C offers Beverages, Pastries, Savory & Sweet dishes!
(Note: Weekday n Weekend have different menu. They serve churros on weekends only!)

I was in the mood for waffles! (They have both sweet and savory waffles at DOC) I ordered the sweet one, Buttermilk waffles with New zealand Natural premium vanilla ice-cream. I personally do not like butter rum banana but if you do, you may try that as well. Some other flavors you can try: Peanut butter & Jelly/Blueberry Compote. No doubt, it has probably one of the best waffles around and serves multiple selection of roasts for you to choose your cuppa from. The waffles was crispy and light. The fragrant caramel was perfect with it and the ice cream gave a sweet finish to the entire dish. I would highly recommend this to you!

My love ordered 'The Lavender & Honey Cake'. It surely did hit the expectations; the layer of honey on top provided this intense sweetness and there was also a heavy aroma from the Lavender on the cake. The cake was also light enough. While your taste buds are doing a sweet waltz, the scent of lavenders take you into a meadow sprawled with its kind- Ah. This cake is totally worth a try if you have made your visit there!

Selection of house made cakes- Delicious!
I will definitely be back to try their churros with kahlua-spiked chocolate sauce! If you are someone who loves brunch and coffee, or someone who loves visiting cafes that are in the town area, you should definitely check Department of Caffeine out. It is definitely a great place to grab some friends along for a chill-out. You are likely not to be disappointed if you make your way down for a visit! Note: They take reservations between so if you wish to avoid the wait or risk being turned away, just email or call them way in advance.

Review of Vaseline Healthy White Triple Lightning Lotion- SPF 24 body lotion

I have been a huge fan of Vaseline body lotion as they never disappoint me and always keep my skin healthy. Vaseline body lotion is the only one that i have used since years to provide moisturization for my skin. Here, i am going to review on Vaseline Healthy White Triple Lightning Lotion-SPF 24 body lotion. Stay tuned for more information! :)

Product claims: Vaseline healthy white SPF 24 triple lightening body lotion gives you three layers of protection that helps keep skin fair even toned, non-sticky and moisturized.
Vaseline Healthy White Triple Lightening Lotion keeps your skin protected from the sun rays. SPF-24 will provide moderate protection from UVA and UVB rays of the sun, so your skin can stay lighter always. This natural and organic lotion is effective on all skin types and also helps in toning your skin tissues efficiently. Composed of aloe vera and glycerin, Healthy White Triple Lightening Lotion moisturizes your skin from the deepest layers so you have soft, supple skin all the time. The non-sticky texture of this body lotion is easily absorbed into the many layers of your skin so you are left with smooth refreshed skin.

Ingredients:

Packaging:

Vaseline Healthy White Triple Lightning Lotion comes in 2 sizes- 350ml n 200ml. The bottle is huge and not travel friendly but Vaseline body lotion is also available in small travel sized packaging’s which are available everywhere.
(Usually, i will bring along the whole 350ml bottle with me when i am out on a road trip)

My experience with Vaseline Healthy White Triple Lightening Lotion:

The lotion is white in color with smooth creamy texture. The consistency is slightly thick and creamy but it is very easy to spread. It feels light on skin and gets absorbed with slight rubbing. It is a non –greasy lotion which moisturizes my skin pretty well without leaving any oily/slippery layer behind.
It helps in retaining the moisture of my throughout the day and I don't feel the need of re-application. After application, Healthy White Triple Lightening Lotion brightens the skin and leave the skin feeling very light, soft and supple. Along with providing nourishment and moisturization to my skin, it also saves it from harmful sun rays.

If you feel that sun protection is only required during summer then you are wrong. One should apply sun protection even at home. It is good to use a body lotion which comes with sun protection in summer and even rainy days.  Vaseline Healthy White Triple Lightening Lotion comes with SPF 24 which protects your skin from UVA/UVB rays.
Pros of Vaseline Healthy White Triple Lightening Lotion SPF 24:
-    Very light on the skin
-    Soft and supple
-    Brighten the skin
-    Suit for all skin type
-    Moisturize the skin well for up to 6-8 hours or more
-    Smells great
Recommendation: I really like Vaseline Healthy White Triple Lightening Lotion which makes my skin look more fairer and flawless. After applying, my skin feel light, soft and completely moisturized for almost throughout the day. I will always apply it before i'm out and even after shower. When i'm out, i don't have to worry of getting sun-tanned anymore. Overall, Vaseline Healthy White Triple Lightening Lotion is the best and I will surely recommend it to YOU. Like i mentioned before, it is for ALL-SKIN-TYPE. It doesn't matter whether you have normal/dry or even oily skin. Another thing i must clarify clearly here, you might come across some reviews saying that Vaseline Healthy White Triple Lightening Lotion is bad and so fourth. These are just "bullshit". You can't see the results within weeks. You have to use it for months in order to be able to get the result. (PLEASE TAKE MY ADVICE: STRONGLY ENCOURAGE; DO NOT RE-APPLY FOR MORE THAN 2 TIMES IN A DAY ITSELF BECAUSE IF YOU DO, AFTER SOME TIME YOUR SKIN MAY RESULT IN OVER-EFFECTIVENESS. WHICH MEAN, IT IS LIKELY TO CAUSE SOME MAJOR SKIN IRRITATION ESPECIALLY FOR PEOPLE WITH SENSITIVE SKIN CONDITION!) Lastly, i will rate Vaseline Healthy White Triple Lightening Lotion 5 out of 5.

Where to purchase?
Available in Watsons, Guardian, NTUC in Singapore.
Have you tried Vaseline Healthy White Triple Whitening – SPF 24 Body Lotion? Or have you used any of the Vaseline Body Lotions? What are you waiting for? Get 1 and try it now! You will love em' :)

(Fret not, my whole review is honest and justified with results)

Strictly Pancakes

I think most of you heard of Strictly Pancakes and been there before for probably countless of times? Not to worry if you are the group of people that have exactly no idea about them existing in Singapore or have yet to visit them. Because, i'm here to take you for a little tour (:
If you love pancakes, you might enjoy Strictly Pancakes. Strictly Pancakes is probably one of the best pancake restaurant/cafe in Singapore. The concept of all day dining restaurant serving only pancakes is not new but Strictly Pancakes is certainly the first of its kind in Singapore, and their menu has both savory and sweet pancakes.
The most fluffy pancakes..the pancakes offer are pretty decent and decently sized for the relative cheap price. You can either choose from their list of composed sweet or savory pancakes, or you could compose your own pancake dish, choosing from 2 up to 4 pancakes, and sides to go along if you liked. All pancakes are served with butter(Salted/Unsalted) and maple syrup. What’s interesting here, is that their butter comes in 4 flavors: salted, unsalted, garlic and herbed, and finally rum and raisin.
One thing to note.. unless you're really crazy about chocolate pancakes, it might be wise to stay away from the Druggie as that is one seriously "heavy" pancake. Don't have it alone but share with friends.

Met up with my love for some pancakes on a sunday afternoon. It was my second time visiting Strictly Pancakes. The last time i visited was during my birthday.

Menu- Splits between sweets, savory & beverages

Strawberry & Co
The Strawberries & Co ($10) is a medium stack of pancakes with mixed berries, strawberries coulis, and a scoop of vanilla ice cream.
$1 off the price if you choose to downsize from 3 pancakes to 2. Three fluffy and thick pancakes with a scoop of good vanilla ice cream for just ten bucks – how do you beat that?

Besides strawberry & co, they also serve other sweets pancakes like banana-scotched, the druggie, what-a-spread, tiramisu, apples & cinnamon, lemon curds for the nerds and black forest

If you are a savory person, by all means order the savory pancakes like the garlic buttered prawns, crab cake pancakes, snuggle up, beef skewers, chicken a la king and potato leaking cheese.
But for those who have a sweet tooth and find it hard to accept the idea of a savory pancake, I will still suggest you to give it a try. Think of it this way, if worse comes to worst, you can always have the savory toppings separately, and finish the pancakes with maple syrup and butter as dessert. Give them a try with an open mind, there’s really nothing to lose.
The pancakes are definitely substantial for lunch. I'd say this is definitely a haven for all you pancake lovers out there. For those of you who are keen to try, i'd advise you to share the pancakes. (For 2 people, 2 slice of pancakes are enough. As for 4 people, 3 slice of pancakes should suffice) Their innovative & extensive sweet and savory creations are indeed pleasing both to the eyes and to the palate. It offers relatively amazing pancakes at an affordable price. Strictly Pancakes is indeed a reliable place to get your pancake fix. There’s no doubt. I definitely will come back to Strictly Pancakes at Prinsep Street to satisfy my pancakes craving. On a side note, I’ll be checking out another pancake shop soon! Wonder how it’ll fare compared to Strictly Pancakes (:

Review:
This product is absolutely amazing! Worth the money, and it's perfect nourishment. (You can get it from any Watsons Singapore retail stores)

OVERAll REVIEW:
I used to have oily scalp and that also explains why my hair was oily & dry in the past.
(I stopped using anti-dandruff shampoo...not only that it didn't help, it also made my hair look extremely dry so i'd strongly encourage you to stop using it too, why not consider Sukin?)
It was my sister whom introduced Sukin hair care product to me and asked to give it a try.
I was like...okay why not? So after few times of trial, i was greatly impressed by how it works. This shampoo cleanses my scalp well. My hair is very smooth, soft and healthy.
The fragrance smells great too! (very spa like which I love).
Better effect: with the use of conditioner, my hair has a lot of body. It's very soft.
Love it. Get a trial size if you need to. My best buy; It has been with me for more than 5 years! :)
Where can i get it?
Retails @ Watsons, Singapore (The shampoo comes in 250ml/500ml/1 litre bottles)

FOR PEOPLE WITH FINE/LIMP HAIR
You might want to consider using Sukin Protein Shampoo and Conditioner instead.

Sukin Protein shampoo contains rice and wheat proteins to fortify and reconstruct fine hair, kiwi extract to nourish and nettle and horsetail extracts to promote volume. The main ingredient is water, and it also contains extracts of aloe, soy protein, wheat protein, kiwi fruit, nettle, burdock, horsetail, cocoa, tangerine, mandarin orange, lavender, with a number of natural components of essential oils. No harmful chemicals spotted there.

It contains mostly the same ingredients, with a few additions such as sesame oil, wheat germ oil, avocado oil, jojoba seed oil, vitamin E and grapefruit seed. These ingredients are generally known to be very nourishing and moisturizing.

Sukin Protein Conditioner is white and viscous too, often needing a few good shakes of the bottle (while it is closed) to get the conditioner out. It smells slightly fruity, and all you need is a tablespoon sized dollop (for medium to long hair) or a teaspoon sized dollop (for short hair). Massage the conditioner into the bottom 1/3 of your hair - don't apply it all over your hair, especially the scalp, as it has a tendency to get oily more quickly. To allow the conditioner to penetrate the hair shafts properly, apply conditioner then leave it on for a few minutes. While your hair is being conditioned, shower as per normal (tilt your head forward to get your hair off your body so the running water does not wash off the conditioner). After a few minutes, wash off the conditioner. Nearing the end of your shower, turn the heater off and rinse your hair with cold water. Warm water allows the conditioner to penetrate into the hair shafts, and cold water seals it in, leaving you with glossy, conditioned hair.

How effective are Sukin Protein Shampoo and Conditioner?
No oily, heavy hair after conditioning, and definitely no more oily scalp problems. The shampoo is extremely effective in voluminizing the hair and clarifying it at the same time so that the scalp feels clean. Your hair will still look glossy, light and heathy after 6-8hours at outside. Start using Sukin Protein shampoo and conditioner, you don't have to worry about these little things again!

So... Should I buy Sukin Protein Shampoo and Conditioner?
If you have fine/limp hair, I would definitely recommend these to you. They have been the most impressive and effective hair products, and the quality is worth the slightly expensive price tag. The only gripe is that the Sukin Protein line comes in bottles of 250ml (8.46 fl. oz.), unlike the normal/all hair types Sukin line, that come in a much bigger volume. This means you have to constantly replenish your stock of shampoo and conditioner, especially for people who have long hair and use more hair product than others with shorter hair. If Sukin came up with packaging of a larger volume for the Protein line, you would be really grateful for the convenience.

Where can i get it?
You can get it from any Watsons, Singapore retail stores.  If you use Sukin Protein hair products regularly, I would advise you to stock up on a few at one go. Either that or just head to another Watsons outlet to check for stock.
